Ronald Fons is Financial Services Business Development Manager for Cisco Asia-Pacific -Japan Global Enterprises. Ronald is currently focusing on co-location services and strategies in Financial Markets and application visibility management which identifies and analyses points of latency throughout the trade order flow.

Ron has over 30 years in IT working for financial services companies on Wall Street - Loeb, Rhoades & Company, Morgan Stanley, and The New York Stock Exchange (SIAC).

He is a certified TOGAF enterprise architect and was a member of the technical architecture team for the Stock Exchange of Singapore prior to the merger with SIMEX, thus creating the SGX.

He was Chief Enterprise Architect for the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China and designed China Construction Bank's Beijing Branch city-wide Frame Relay WAN infrastructure.

Ronald is based in Hong Kong.

Jae Yong Go has worked for several local securities houses for over 10 years as an equity broker, and for institutional investors (asset management company or pension funds etc.). He has joined Thomson Reuters in 2007 and now is in charge of equity side as a sales specialist.

 



Joel HUREWITZ

Joel Hurewitz Head of Sales - Broker Dealer and Liquidity at Instinet where he is responsible for selling the firm's products - specifically their liquidity products to other broker dealers. Prior to Instinet Joel was Head of Sales, Hong Kong for CLSA's BlocSec, an electronic crossing network created to provide institutional investors with optimized execution for their Asian block trades, minimizing both transaction costs and market impact. Previous to CLSA, Joel was the Asia Pacific Head of Electronic Trading Products at HSBC, responsible for sales and marketing of the Bank's alternative execution products including FIX Connectivity, Direct Market Access and Program & Algorithmic trading. Joel is also an active member and supporter of FPL, the standards body for Electronic trading and is currently the Co-Chair of the Technical Committee of FPL in Asia. In addition, Joel was the Asia Pacific editor of FIXGlobal, the de-facto journal of electronic trading, for the past three years.

 



Dae Geun JUN

He is responsible for PowerBase, most famous ledger management service for securities firms in Korea and IT solutions for financial companies. With over 20 years of experience in the financial information technology industry, he is one of the top management in Koscom.

 



Charles C. B. KIM

As the Head of New Business Center of Woori Investment & Securities Co., Charles Kim is in charge of Global Equity Brokerage, responsible for developing new front trading solutions and E-oriented network business.

Prior to joining Woori Investment & Securities Co., Charles has worked for Leading Investment & Securities, Hanwha Securities Co., CJ Investment & Securities Co., Bank of Athens and Citibank.

He is also presently the Director of KARP (Korea Associate of Risk Professional).

He graduated with a Bachelor degree in Financial Accounting from Sogang University in 1984, and obtained his MBA in 1991. He is married with two children.
 
 



Dan KIM

Dan joined Goldman Sachs in 2008. He manages the Korea Electronic Trading business of Goldman Sachs Seoul Branch, which covers DMA, Internet, and Algorithmic trading services for clients. He is also in charge of global equities business promoting local institutions overseas equity investment. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Dan had worked in Global Equities division of Nomura Hong Kong, and Institutional Futures & Options department of Shinhan Financial Investment. Dan received his undergraduate degree from Sogang Univ. and his MBA degree from UNC, Chapel Hill.

Hong Kim has been at KOSPI/KOSDAQ Market Division and IT Strategy Division since 2004. From 1996–2001, Mr. Kim worked for LG-EDS as a software engineer. Mr. Kim holds a Bachelor Degree(1996) and MBA Master Degree(2004) from KAIST.
 
 



Josephine KIM

Josephine Kim is a Vice President in Credit Suisse' AES Equity Sales team based in Hong Kong focusing on North East Asia based clients. She relocated from Singapore earlier this year where she was in charge of AES sales and marketing in South East Asia. Prior to Credit Suisse, Josephine was a Senior Execution Management Specialist at Bloomberg and she holds a Master in Finance degree from City University, London.
 
 



Robert K. LAIBLE

Nomura International (HK) Ltd.

Rob is a Managing Director in charge of the Asia-Pacific Electronic Trading Services for Nomura, where he is responsible for Sales, Product and Client Service. Rob’s team develops the Firm’s DMA infrastructure, trading tools, market connectivity, smart order routing, dark pools, algorithms, and analytics. Product expertise includes: ModelEx, NX, SmartDMA and TradeSpex.

Prior to joining Nomura, Rob was head of Lehman Brothers’ Prime Services Origination in Asia, based in Hong Kong. While in NY, Rob was a senior member of the Equity Liquid Markets Sales force, where he ran a team focusing on Cash & Program Trading, Futures, Options, ETFs, Swaps, Risk Arbitrage, Index Changes and Derivative Related Research. Rob joined Lehman Brothers in 1998 as US Agency Program Trading Product Manager. In this role he developed a comprehensive electronic trading platform which incorporated client connectivity, quantitative research, “smart” trading strategies, access to multiple sources of liquidity and efficient operations and settlement. He was also responsible for the sales and marketing effort for program trading. He subsequently became Global Program Trading Product Manager, and focused on rewriting the common technology that supports each of the regional headquarters.

Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Rob was Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Trading at Investment Technology Group (“ITG”), an agency brokerage and technology firm. Rob joined ITG in 1987 as one of its first employees. During his eleven-year tenure, he helped develop the firm’s range of advanced trading technologies, including POSIT, and helped drive their expansion into the agency brokerage business. He served as a member of ITG’s Executive Committee.

Rob received a BA in Economics from Amherst College and an MBA in Finance from the NYU Graduate School of Business Administration (Stern).

 



Chang Hee LEE

Changhee Lee has been a manager at IT Integration Division since year 2005. Mr. Lee joined the Korea Futures Exchange in 1999 where he spent 6 years at the IT Development part before the consolidation of Korean exchanges. Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Yonsei University.

 



David In-hwan LEE

David In-hwan Lee is the founder and CEO of DATAROAD, a leading electronic trading solutions provider in Korea. He has spent more than 20 years working in the areas of securities trading and settlement systems development in Korea. Before founding DATAROAD in 2000, he worked for ABN AMRO Asia and Dongsuh Securities.

He made every effort to spread the FIX Protocol among financial institutions in Korea. His team developed the first FIX Engine and OMS (Order Management System) in Korea.

He is still playing an important role in FIX Protocol consulting and OMS development in the industry.


 



Young-Sup LEE

Young-Sup Lee has been the Team Leader at Asset Management Division of Samsung Fund since year 2000. From 1998 – 2000, Mr. Lee was the Team Leader of the Bond Team. Mr. Lee joined Samsung Life Insurance in 1987 where he spent over 10 years at the Equity Division. Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor Degree from Yonsei University and an MBA from Rutgers, USA.

Mr. Edward Mangles is the founder and Publisher of FIXGlobal, the official publication of the FIX Protocol. He has a long history within the financial technology sector and has worked closely with FPL for a number of years.  He has supported the organisation’s Asia Pacific committee for the past 7 years, playing a key role in promoting FIX adoption across the region. He has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong. In March 09 Mr. Edward Mangles was appointed FPL Asia Pacific Regional Director.
 
 



Punit MITTAL

Punit Mittal joined Daiwa Securities SMBC in 2009 and heads the electronic trading platform that encompasses DMA, Algorithmic Trading, Liquidity Management and Trade Cost Analysis for Equities and Derivatives business on global markets.

Previously he was Head of Execution Products at BNP Paribas and Barclays Global Investors in Tokyo. Mr.Mittal has earned Bachelors in Commerce and Economics from Mumbai University, India and Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Australia.

 



Ryan PIERCE
Technical Director
FIX Protocol Ltd

Ryan Pierce was appointed FIX Protocol Ltd’s Technical Director in November 2008. With more than 12 years experience within the electronic trading industry, much of which has been spent focused on FIX implementation projects with previous employers, Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers and Townsend Analytics, he has developed a very strong understanding of the FPL and the potential it offers to the financial services sector.

Ryan has been an active member of FPL since the 1990s and has contributed to the development of each version of the protocol since FIX 4.1, which was released in 1998. He was responsible for adding listed derivatives support to FIX 4.1 and creating the market data suite of messages in FIX 4.2.

Ryan is an active participant on the FPL Americas Regional Committee and the Global Technical Committee (GTC) where he continues to serve on the Americas and GTC Governance Boards. He also works closely with the Global Exchanges and Markets Committee and the Account Management Working Group. He recently coordinated the delivery of the ‘FIX Security White Paper’ and in the past has been responsible for ensuring that the protocol can effectively support regulatory initiatives and aiding FPL in the development of collaborative relationships with other industry organizations.

In his role as FPL's Technical Director, Ryan is working closely with exchanges and execution venues globally to help synchronize their FIX specifications, and with the regulatory community to increase their understanding of the benefits the protocol offers. A prime example of this is the work he recently conducted with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada that led to FPL developing an extension pack that will enable FIX 5.0 to support IIROC’s new FIX-based market regulation feed specification for market surveillance and transaction reporting. Ryan is also actively involved in adding support for parties reference data and entitlements to FIX 5.0.

 



Robert ROOKS

Chief Operating Officer, Chi-X Hong Kong

Robert Rooks joined Chi-X as Head of New Business Development for APAC in 2007 and was shortly after appointed Chief Administration Officer Asia Pacific for the business in 2008. He was additionally appointed as Chief Operating Officer Hong Kong in early 2009. He is responsible for all aspects of Chi-X’s legal, financial and regulatory submissions and applications throughout the region. Prior to Chi-X he was the APAC Regional Director for ORC and during this time seconded to lead several exchange and FIX-related projects with OMX. Prior to this he was Global Head of FIX Products for NYFIX based in New York before moving to Hong Kong to head the development of their Asia Pacific operations. Prior to this he was based in Japan and Korea as General Manager of Misys Wholesale Banking Systems. Mr. Rooks started his career working on the International Petroleum Exchange in London and has subsequently held regional and global roles based out of Europe, the US and Asia Pacific in the banking and technology sectors.

 



Kan WONG
Senior Equity Trader

Kan born and educated in the UK. He graduated with a Bachelor degree in Economics in 1993.

He joined Fidelity in 1998, and he primarily trades equities in South Korea, Malaysia & India markets.
