Azura specializes in equity markets in managing corporate and individual clients’ risk exposure in the equity markets. Prior to joining RHB Group, she was the General Manager, Corporate Institutional Banking Group of HLG Securities Sdn Bhd where her main function was to boost the Institutional Sales Department focusing on establishing business relationship with the Institutional and Corporate GLCS. Prior to joining HLG, she also worked in Crosby Securities, London. She has more than 20years experience in equities market.

   
Gerald Blondel, PMP

Gerald is the Managing Director of Upside Business Consulting Sdn Bhd, specialized in Project Management Mentoring and Electronic Trading Advisory. He is PMP credential holder (from Project Management Institute).

Before, he was the Head of Infrastructure Planning in the Global Market Strategy division of Bursa Malaysia. He was responsible for improving market access and implementation of new trading technologies in line with market trends. He was the Project Director of the Direct Market Access - Sponsored Access project.

Gerald started his career working for a financial IT consulting firm in 1992. He joined AtosEuronext in 1995 as Trading Business Analyst, where he served in this capacity for over 10 years. During this time, Gerald was involved in projects for numerous international exchanges such as Euronext NV, Warsaw Stock Exchange, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Montreal Exchange, serving as Project Manager for some of the projects. His responsibilities included advising Exchanges on market models based on the features and functionalities of the Euronext trading system.

As the Deputy Chief of Market Operations and Head of Exchanges Operations, his responsibility include charting overall business strategies and development plans on market operations for Bursa Malaysia Group of Companies in meeting the changing needs of its customers both domestic and overseas.

Kong Khai has been with Bursa Malaysia for more than 18 years. Prior to his current position, he was the Head of Information Services Business Unit and Head of Depository for Bursa Malaysia Depository Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia. He was instrumental in the setting up of Bursa Depository which has growth by leaps and bounds since its inception in 1992. In this role, he was responsible for managing the operations and services of Bursa Depository by ensuring prompt and efficient depository services to its participants and market intermediaries comprises of stockbrokers, custodian banks, fund managers and retail depositors.

Before joining Bursa Malaysia, in 1983 Kong Khai was attached to Kwong Lee Bank Berhad. Through Kwong Lee Bank, he was exposed to commercial bank’s credit and securities processing where he gained the experience in evaluating various types of collateral and appraising customer’s financial standing. Having acquired commercial banking knowledge, he set his vision to expand his banking knowledge by joining a merchant bank. In 1988, Kong Khai joined Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank’s Treasury Operations and was subsequently seconded to Arab-Malaysian Securities Sdn Bhd to oversee the implementation of scripless clearing and settlement system for securities listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange).

   
Steve Cook

Steve Cook joined Chi-X Global in September 2009, to help Chi-X bring innovative solutions to the Asian exchange space. Steve is actively involved in the design of the trading, clearing and settlement mechanisms of Chi-East, the first Asian exchange-backed dark pool, as well as the other Chi-X venues in the region. Steve is also responsible for a number of new product and partnership initiatives in the region.

Steve has been based in Asia since 2000, where he has taken a number of senior roles in the electronic trading space.

   
Rob Hodgkinson
Director

Rob Hodgkinson has worked in Information Technology, developing software in financial markets with a focus on financial mathematics, for over thirty years.

Early experience includes global financial timeseries databases using array languages, the development of graphical dealer trading tools and then development manager for the portfolio management system for AMP Investments in Sydney.

In 1992, together with Paul Phillips, Rob co-founded Financial Market Software Consultants (FMSC) and they developed the Automated Securities Trading System, a distributed, memory based trading system, which was sold to many securities exchanges throughout the world including Shanghai, Jakarta, Moscow, Montreal, Istanbul, Oslo, Helsinki, Budapest and many others.

In 1995 FMSC was sold to Computershare, the publicly listed share registry company, and Rob and Paul managed the trading systems division working as executive directors. The trading system was subsequently acquired by Nasdaq/OMX and is still sold today as XStream.

Rob is currently a director of First Derivatives (Australia) Pty Ltd, a company specialising in capital markets projects. The technology focus is around kdb+, which is the fastest and most widely used in-memory tick capture database globally. First Derivatives specialises in kdb+ consulting and related systema (for example realtime analytics, limits, Profit & Loss, treasury risk management, smart order routing and algorithmic trading). Rob (with Paul) head up the exchange initiative, developing low latency solutions for exchanges globally.

Rob has extensive experience in array programming languages, traditional programming languages, and relational database management systems and performance optimisation for high volume transaction processing systems.

Rob has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macquarie University (1978), with a triple major in computing, statistics and mathematics.

   
Robert K. Laible
Managing Director, Head of Electronic Trading & Program Trading Sales, Asia
Nomura International (HK) Ltd.

Rob is a Managing Director Head of Program Trading Sales and Electronic Trading Services for Nomura in Asia. Rob’s team is responsible for selling Nomura’s program trading capabilities in Asia and also developing the Firm’s DMA infrastructure, trading tools, dark pools, market connectivity, smart order routing, algorithms, and analytics. Product expertise includes: ModelEx, NX, SmartDMA and TradeSpex.

Prior to joining Nomura, Rob was head of Lehman Brothers’ Prime Services Origination in Asia, based in Hong Kong. While in NY, Rob was a senior member of the Equity Liquid Markets Sales force, where he ran a team focusing on Cash & Program Trading, Futures, Options, ETFs, Swaps, Risk Arbitrage, Index Changes and Derivative Related Research. Rob joined Lehman Brothers in 1998 as US Agency Program Trading Product Manager. In this role he developed a comprehensive electronic trading platform which incorporated client connectivity, quantitative research, “smart” trading strategies, access to multiple sources of liquidity and efficient operations and settlement. He was also responsible for the sales and marketing effort for program trading. He subsequently became Global Program Trading Product Manager, and focused on rewriting the common technology that supports each of the regional headquarters.

Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Rob was Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Trading at Investment Technology Group (“ITG”), an agency brokerage and technology firm. Rob joined ITG in 1987 as one of its first employees. During his eleven-year tenure, he helped develop the firm’s range of advanced trading technologies, including POSIT, and helped drive their expansion into the agency brokerage business. He served as a member of ITG’s Executive Committee.

Rob received a BA in Economics from Amherst College and an MBA in Finance from the NYU Graduate School of Business Administration (Stern).

   
Lim Jit Jee

Lim Jit Jee, aged 52, a Malaysian, graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science from Sonoma State University, California. Lim joined Bursa Malaysia in June 2008 as Head, Exchanges Operations of Market Operations before he was appointed as CIO, heading Technology & Systems Group on 15 September 2008. Lim brings with him over 20 years experience in the securities industry, having held many roles ranging from developing businesses, securities operations, managing critical projects, advisory and consultancy. Prior to joining Bursa Malaysia, Lim had been with the ASCM since 2004, his last position there being Executive Director..

Mr. Edward Mangles is the founder and Publisher of FIXGlobal, the official publication of the FIX Protocol. He has a long history within the financial technology sector and has worked closely with FPL for a number of years. He has supported the organisation’s Asia Pacific committee for the past 8 years, playing a key role in promoting FIX adoption across the region. He has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong. In March 09 Mr. Edward Mangles was appointed FPL Asia Pacific Regional Director.

Perry Pritchard

Peter Tierney

Peter Tierney is the regional MD of NYSE Technologies responsible for Asia. NYSE Technologies is a division of NYSE Euronext.

Prior to joining NYSE Euronext, Mr. Tierney held various senior management positions at TransactTools, BT Radianz, Omgeo and Thomson Financial with extended postings in major financial centers in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the US.

Mr. Tierney’s previous roles cover strategic business development, sales and operational management, marketing and product development across front, middle and back office applications in the financial services space.

Based in Singapore, Mr. Tierney coordinates the customer facing activities (sales, presales, delivery and support) across the region through teams in Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Peter is originally from Ireland and graduated university with a bachelors in engineering, specializing in electronics and computer science. He is married with 2 children – Liam (9) and Declan (7).

Richard Zhu is Executive Vice President of SUNGARD Global Trading, in-charge of Sales and Marketing in SE Asia and India, Mr. Zhu has been with SUNGARD for 3 years and has more than 20 years experiences in Financial Industry. Prior to join SUNGARD, Mr. Zhu has held a number of senior positions in various Banks and Stock Broking house, including Vice President of Operations and Technology in OCBC Bank where he managed Risk Management Solutions (Basel II, Market Risk, Credit Risk & Operational Risk), ERP, MIS, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligent as well as Data Management, and director of Strategic Implementation in OCBC Securities where he was instrumental for achieving end to end STP and electronic trading and new products implementation. He started his career as a software engineer in one of the largest Banks in China and worked on many assignments in Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, HR and Data Centre management.
